So there you have it: custom copper/aluminium heatsinks made simple and very cheap. My friends alone were in total amazement, even the girls thought they were cute (because they resembled opened flowers). They will not only improve your computer's performance, but your case's aesthetics as well!
The cost of making this project was next to nothing. The price of the Arctic Silver thermal adhesive was about $15.00 CAD, the copper pipe was only $2.00 CAD and the old heatsink was free of charge making this project cost less than $20.00 CAD assuming you have all the needed tools in your possession. I personally feel that it was mainly the hard labour involved; to cut aluminium and lap copper is a lot of work. If you can manage to pull off all that work, you will have the best passive heatsinks around.
From the results of overclocking the ram, it is obvious that the ram sinks effectively stabilize the higher ram speeds. Using the MSI overclocking tab I tweaked the RAM MHz quite a bit. From the default setting of 250MHz for the core and 510MHz for the RAM, I was able to push the RAM to 625MHz!! That's a 22% increase in RAM speed. For some this my not be super impressive, but keep in mind that these RAM sinks are passively cooled. As for cooling the GPU, that will be my next project.
